David Tennant & Catherine Tate to reunite in Americons

New comedy-drama with ex-DoctorWho stars will follow UK characters as they move to the USA.

David Tennant and Catherine Tate will reunite for a new comedy-drama, Americons, said to be produced for UK’s SKY Television.

Deadline reports it will follow their characters as they move to the United States.

The production is reportedly in advance stages of development under Bad Wolf, founded in 2015 by Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner, who were responsible for bringing back Doctor Who with Russell T. Davies.

Tennant and Tate first starred together in The Runaway Bride, the 2006 Christmas special of Doctor Who before their full season starting in 2008.

  1. Fantastic. Tate was definitely the best companion of the modern era and this was in no small part due to her chemistry with Tennant. Will be good to see them back together. I wonder if Tennant will get to keep his accent, or be forced to go English for the American ear?

  2. It may work but we will have to wait and see. I just hope Tate doesn’t revive her cockney gran character which was okay at first but became a big turnoff after that.

    1. Well, certainly one of the worst of the new ones, only beaten by Series 2 Rose. This looks painfully bad. Tennant and Tate hollering over each other, smirking and overacting as usual. I am just hoping he doesn’t stink up Good Omens too badly next year. Terrible casting decision by Neil Gaiman. Why not cast Peter Serafinowicz who was perfection in the BBC Radio 4 play. Huge missed opportunity to do it right.

    2. No hate for The Unwatchable Girl?

Catherine Tate’s character had the advantage at least of being given a mind, instead of being made to go all dewy-eyed over the Doctor in the clichéd laziest of lazy cliché writing…
