Part II of Seven telemovie recreates Xanadu, Physical and faces cancer and a missing partner.

Part II of Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You airs Sunday night on Seven.

There’s more drama in the second half including a stalker, Koala Blue bankruptcy, cancer and a missing partner in Patrick McDermott. Alas it isn’t as good as Part I, trying to cram too much in, and lacking the fine talents of Morgan Griffin.

But the musical recreations such as Xanadu and Physical are top notch.

8:30pm Sunday on Seven.

  1. Channel seven did well with the life story of Molly Meldrem and thought they would try other biopics eg Paul Hogan and Olivia Newton John but they weren’t as successful as Molly.

  2. Morgan Griffin was terrific. But the switch to Delta was jarring. Morgan had Olivia’s mannerisms, spoke like her and presented Olivia as sweet, shy, and sincere. Suddenly, a new actress is inexplicably introduced who is much taller, looks nothing like Olivia and portrays her as a vapid slightly dumb character. It made no sense. And what’s with the horrendous wigs that most of the characters are wearing? Very disappointing given how good the Peter Allan, Molly and Easybeats bios were.

They should have kept Morgan to portray Olivia for the whole production.

And to only feature two songs prior to Grease was also disappointing.

  3. Interesting tidbit from Delta’s instragram page. Morgan Griffin played a younger version of Delta in her Innocent Eyes music video all those years ago.
