Insight host Jenny Brockie talks to people who are actively participating in open relationships.

Tonight on Insight, host Jenny Brockie talks to people who are actively participating in open relationships and hears from relationship experts to find out if they can last.

Wye (47) is a doctor who has been living with her partner Dave (43) for five years. Dave is not Wye’s only partner – she’s also in a relationship with Andrew (46). Dave also has a girlfriend called Chrissy (35).

When Wye met Dave she struggled with Dave’s idea of having an open relationship. She underwent years of therapy to come to terms with their lifestyle.

Lynn (35) and Jim (37) have been together for 20 years, married for 13 and have five children. As a couple, they have been openly seeing other people since the start of their relationship.

In the beginning, it was just sex; however, it has since evolved into emotional connections with other people. Jim believes he was born to live a polyamorous lifestyle and never feels jealous. Lynn admits that it’s not as easy for her.

Michael (40) and Renee (40) have been together for 20 years and have three kids. Their relationship started out monogamous, but they both had affairs early on. When their relationship became rocky, and close to ending, they both agreed that they wanted to stay together but were interested in other people – so they started swinging.

Their swinging has since evolved into more personal relationships. They both have had partners fall in love with them and asked them to leave the other. However, Michael and Renee make it very clear that this would never happen.

Andrew (41) has been openly polyamorous for 4 years. He says “just because you love someone doesn’t mean that that love is diminished if you love another person.” Andrew currently lives with his primary partner “Cassie” (41) – but also has another partner who he sees once or twice a month. “Cassie” also sees other people. Andrew believes that his open relationship with “Cassie” makes their connection stronger.
