Judge to rule on naming new claimants in McLachlan defamation

Lawyers request a suppression order in Craig McLachlan defamation case.

A Sydney court will decide on Monday if the names of three more women making allegations against actor Craig McLachlan, and their evidence, will be suppressed in a defamation suit.

Lawyer Lyndelle Barnett, who is representing the ABC and Fairfax media, said three more women have come forward, with one lodging an official complaint with NSW Police.

She applied for a suppression order, arguing naming them would cause “undue distress and embarrassment”.

Stuart Littlemore QC, representing Craig McLachlan, argued against suppressing the names.

McLachlan has denied all allegations levelled against him, last week in an affidavit stating, “I cannot believe they still need to look for witnesses five months after ruining my life.”
