MasterChef, Gruen win Wednesday slots.

  1. Is it just me but I just don’t see the point of Stargazing Live ? What is it about ? I don’t think it has been explained very well, its all rather nebulous …and Julia and Brian just look … cold and rather uncomfortable with their forced banter and fake fire. The Tim Minchin bit was awful viewing.
Some of the taped stories look like we’ve stumbled back to Wonder World days, they have not been produced very well. Too many cooks ?
Certainly for a production with 150 odd crew and especially flown in UK experts this is pretty light on…
No wonder the ratings are down on the previous year despite the ABC pumping it up everywhere they can .

    1. Am enjoying Stargazing Live but agree about the slight awkwardness and sometimes forced banter between Julia and Brian. Was the same last year.
Would be a challenging gig to host though.
Normally like him but agree that Tim Minchin wasn’t at his best here – made for some cringeworthy moments.
SGL is patchy in parts and some segments seem a little pointless but it’s still interesting and inspiring viewing overall.

  2. Is it Nine that has caused House Rules and Masterchef to be lower than last year ? Or are viewer watching Netflix or some other streamed services or just simply switching off ?

  3. So it seems once again that Nine have caused House Rules and Masterchef to be lower than last year as back then they had nothing in the Top 20 in the 7:30pm slot (only Hot Seat, News, A Current Affair and Britain’s Got Talent appeared) as last year it was The Last Resort on 371,000.

Masterchef Last Year: 958,000 (TY: down 145,000).
House Rules Last Year: 807,000 (TY: down 125,000).
    7:30 Last Year: 612,000 (TY: down 120,000).

    1. No need to post these figures every day. I think we all know by now that viewing habits have changed and are changing rapidly. Fewer people are watching free to air as there are many other viewing platforms. Five years ago a show was considered a success if it got 1.5 million, now it is successful with 800,000.

    2. There is a general trend downwards in live TV watching. And a few years ago only around 5k would timeshifted something like Masterchef, now its 90k and another 50k are streaming it as people have data plans for their phones and tablets that support that.
