MKR, Royal Wedding specials score on Tuesday

Ratings: Seven led with My Kitchen Rules until Royal Wedding fever took the lead on Nine.

Interest in the Royal Wedding may prove positive for networks, despite a saturation of shows coming, with a Nine special winning its slot at 9pm last night.

Diana to Meghan: Royal Wedding Secrets topped its slot at 524,000 viewers ahead of Interview‘s 449,000 with Richard Roxburgh, and TEN’s Hughesy and ABC’s Monash and Me both on 370,000. Can TEN tap into wedding fever with its Meghan Markle special tonight?

My Kitchen Rules still ruled the night at 1.23m viewers, eliminating 2 teams and topping the demos. The Voice was also up on last Tuesday at 1.01m viewers in its final Blind Auditions. 7:30 was in third place at half those numbers.

Who Do You Think You Are? with Natalie Imbruglia dipped on last week at 323,000.

Seven News, ACA and The Chase all won their regular slots.

Seven network won Tuesday with 31.7% then Nine 30.3%, TEN 15.5%, ABC 15.2% and SBS 7.3%.

My Kitchen Rules was #1 for Seven with 1.23m viewers then Seven News (1.08m / 1.06m), Home and Away (764,000), The Chase (648,000 / 392,000) and Interview (449,000).

The Voice (1.01m) led for Nine followed by Nine News (951,000 / 934,000), A Current Affair (811,000), Diana to Meghan: Royal Wedding Secrets (524,000) and Hot Seat (509,000 / 299,000).

The Project (560,000 / 365,000) was best on TEN then TEN Eyewitness News (437,000), Bondi Rescue (405,000 / 306,000), Hughesy We Have a Problem (370,000) and Family Feud (293,000). NCIS: LA drew 260,000.

ABC News (740,000), 7:30 (508,000), Monash and Me (370,000), The Checkout (368,000), Judi Dench: My Passion for Trees (260,000) and Think Tank (226,000).

On SBS it was Who Do You Think You Are? (323,000), Insight (221,000), SBS World News (157,000) and Dateline (119,000).

Octonauts (183,000) topped multichannels for ABC KIDS.

Today Extra: 117,000 / 68,000
Studio 10: 51,000 / 49,000 / 48,000

  1. Disappointing that The Project’s ratings didn’t increase much on average given the very moving and entertaining Beanies for Brain Cancer special. I don’t know whether CBS even have a chance of making Network TEN a top 2 performer. Especially given their seemingly lack of care that TEN are essentially without a digital presence with the constant glitches with Tenplay.

    1. Are they still showing repeats?
      Saw some of an episode last week and it was one I had seen before (on Gogglebox) because I rarely watch it. I don’t like how Andrew puts on a different voice when trying to pronounce foreign words.
