Netflix cancels Arrested Development press tour

Cast were due to go to London for interviews, but not after what went down this week.

Netflix has canceled all UK press interviews for Arrested Development, following a cast interview with the New York Times.

“We had planned to have most of the Arrested Development cast in London this week to support the launch of the new season and meet fans,” Netflix said in a statement. “At this time we have decided not to move ahead with promotional activity in the UK but hope to bring the cast back at another time.”

During the interview Jessica Walter broke down in tears when discussing verbal harassment from co-star Jeffrey Tambor.

Star Jason Bateman, who defended Tambor, has since apologised.

“I sound like I’m condoning yelling at work. I do not. It sounds like I’m excusing Jeffery. I do not. It sounds like I’m insensitive to Jessica, I am not,” he tweeted. “This is a big learning moment for me. I shouldn’t have tried so hard to mansplain, or fix a fight, or make everything OK.”

Season 5 screens in Australia next Wednesday on Foxtel.

  1. I’m a massive fan of the show and the cast but this was really distasteful and not only made me lose the faith that I had in Jeffrey Tambor after the Transparent situation but also respect for the other cast members who played it down. I still want to watch the show but I am torn.
