Optus retains Premier League rights for 3 more years

Optus is set to offer $15 monthly deal for non-subscribers to watch EPL.

Optus has extended its rights to the English Premier League for another three seasons.

The new deal begins in August and includes exclusive Live coverage on for every Premier League match, and full on-demand, replay and short form rights for all 380 matches between 2019 to 2022. SBS currently shows one Premier League match per round.

Optus paid $187 million over three years for the current rights, swooping on the sport which had been screening on Foxtel. It isn’t yet clear how much they have paid for the renewal.

Optus CEO Allen Lew said, “This shows our long-term commitment to provide exclusive premium content and our transition to be a multi-media entertainment provider.

“Fans have shown that they love what we are doing in bringing the best club competition in the world to Australia and we look forward to taking it to the next level over the next four years.”

Optus also revealed that they will open access to non-subscribers from May, with a $14.99 a month package that will allow users to watch all Premier League matches plus all FIFA World Cup matches -the only place to watch all 64 matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, including two 24 / 7 channels.

SBS will offer 25 premium FIFA World Cup matches all Live and in HD with exclusive commentary from Martin Tyler.
