Renewed: The Durrells

Feelgood UK drama starring Keeley Hawes gets a fourth season.

UK family drama The Durrells has been renewed for a fourth season by ITV for six new episodes.

The Corfu-based drama based on Gerald Durrell’s books will see Keeley Hawes reprise her role as matriarch Louisa Durrell, plus Josh O’Connor, Callum Woodhouse, Daisy Waterstone and Milo Parker as her children, plus Alexis Georgoulis as chauffeur and love interest, Spiros.

ITV’s Senior Drama Commissioner, Victoria Fea, said: “The Durrells has proven immensely popular with viewers and critics alike, so we’re thrilled to have commissioned another series. Simon Nye’s writing is witty, big-hearted and hugely engaging, so we’re looking forward to seeing what the fourth series has in store.”

Filming is set to take place in Corfu later this year.

The Durrells airs in Australia on 7TWO.

  1. I had the opportunity to visit Corfu last year and not only saw the several villas the Durrell’s lived in, but some of the locations used in the series. While the main villa used in the series has no connection with the Durrell’s it is perfect for TV with a wonderful view, is surprisingly close to the town of Corfu and most importantly has a 5 star hotel adjacent to the property for the cast to stay. The only real Durrell villa with a comparable location is the White House now a hotel and Taverna ( excellent lunch) and where Lawrence wrote Prospero’s Cell. Of course the TV series has done wonders for the local economy providing employment and a boost to tourism. The locals will love this news.
