Renewed: The Handmaid’s Tale

Acclaimed, intense drama starring Elisabeth Moss has been renewed for a third season.

Acclaimed, intense drama The Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for a third season by Hulu.

The renewal comes just 1 week after the second season return. The show has become the most watched show, original or acquired, on the US streaming service.

Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, series follows the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States and stars Elisabeth Moss.

Season 2 features Australian director Daina Reid helming episodes 11 and 12.

Last week she told TV Tonight, “It was incredible. I still pinch myself.

“I didn’t tell anybody about it because I thought ‘It can’t be real. I don’t want to jinx it.’

“I feel as though I came to it as a viewer. A fan. And then suddenly I was in the ‘world,’ which was a real treat. But you catch yourself sometimes, walking down the street and all the handmaids walk past you.

‘What was wonderful was working with people at the absolute top of their game.
But it didn’t feel that dissimilar to working here.”

SBS is fast-tracking episodes with the third episode to screen tonight at 8:30pm.
