Sprawling HBO sci-fi Westworld has been renewed for a third season, at just two episodes into its second season.

“It’s been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew,” said Casey Bloys, President HBO Programming. “From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us.”

Based on the film written by Michael Crichton, Westworld‘s second season premiered with 2.1 million US viewers, up 5% from the Season 1 premiere. The show is also a critical hit having nabbed 22 Emmy nominations and winning five. Last year the show did not screen with HBO citing the mammoth production involved.

Showcase is fast-tracking episodes every Monday with star James Marsden recently in Australia.
