Returning: Arrested Development

8 brand new episodes will screen same day as the US.

Foxtel has confirmed the fifth season of Arrested Development will screen next week on the Comedy Channel, same day as the US.

There are 16 episodes coming, divided into two halves. The first 9 episodes will screen in a marathon from 5pm Wednesday, May 30. Another 8 will screen at a date to be determined, as per US roll-out.

Although the series was revived by Netflix, Foxtel retains premiere rights in Australia having been its previous home.

Featuring one of the funniest ensembles in TV comedy, Arrested Development follows the wildly eccentric and entertainingly dysfunctional Bluth family. It’s the story of a wealthy family that lost everything, and the one son who had no choice but to keep them all together.

Jason Bateman returns to the screen as Michael Bluth. He will be joined by regular cast members Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, David Cross, Jeffery Tambor and Jessica Walters, who will reprise their iconic roles.

Marathon 5pm Wednesday, May 30 on Comedy.
Episodes also airing weekly Mondays at 9.00pm from June 4.
