US actor best known for TV western Cheyenne, has died.

US actor Clint Walker, best known for TV western Cheyenne, has died aged 90.

He died on Monday in California, according to media reports.

Walker played Cheyenne Bodie, a cowboy drifter raised by the Cherokees, for seven seasons from 1955-61.

The handsome, blue-eyed actor was variously described as a “gentle giant,” “mountain of a man” or “man-mountain.”

After Cheyenne he became largely interested in movies both theatrical and telemovie.

Film credits included The Dirty Dozen, Send Me No Flowers, None but the Brave, Night of the Grizzy, More Dead Than Alive, Sam Whiskey, The Great Train Robbery, The Ten Commandments, Fort Dobbs, Yellowstone Kelly, Gold of the Seven Saints and Small Soldiers.

TV credits included 77 Sunset Strip, Kraft Suspense Theatre, The Lucy Show, Yuma, Killdozer, Snowbeast, The Love Boat, Maverick, Kodiak and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.

  1. Cheyenne was the first “adult” western and Clint Walker was a major star during its broadcast receiving thousands of fan letters each week. In real life he was as being much like his screen persona, a quiet, friendly gentleman. Clint Walker thank you for the wonderful memories. R.I.P.

  2. Clint Walker was one of Hollywood’s classic strong silent types, notably in Westerns. Its a shame that successful actors like Clint are nowadays seemingly only remembered when they have passed on.
