Acorn SVOD picks up Mystery Road for US

ABC drama with Aaron Pedersen & Deborah Mailman to be added to US streaming service.

Mystery Road will play on streaming service Acorn TV in the US, which has a history of picking up Aussie titles.

Acorn has the show for the US and has secondary rights in the UK and Ireland, New Zealand & Australia (it is yet to launch a service in Australia).

“With its remote landscape, intriguing mystery and award-winning cast led by Aaron Pedersen and Judy Davis, Mystery Road is right in line with the first-rate international dramas we’re bringing to our subscribers every month,” said Shane Murphy,  Acorn Media Enterprises managing director.

Series producer Greer Simpkin told Variety “It has been a long time since there has been an outback cop character on Australian television but now that we have the character of Jay Swan from the movies it made perfect sense that we create a TV series about him.”

Producers are also in discussion with ABC about the development of a second season.

  1. I intended tol watch just one episode… binge watched the whole lot. Brilliant. I was hooked from the first five minutes. Aaron Pederson and Judy Davis led an outstanding cast… and the cinematography was outstanding.

  2. I love this show. I could not wait for it to conclude on ABC so I binged watched the last 4 episodes on iview.
Great Australian drama as only the ABC can produce. This is the reason why the ABC should never be privatised. Cannot wait for the next one.

  3. That’s great news; I’m still so enjoying seeing Judy Davis on the telly. It is such a wonderful experience watching her work. Always interesting in the scenes with Colin Friels. Some of the dialogue feels a little stilted, but it looks so majestic and there’s plenty of seasoned as well as new talent on display that distracts me from some of the more flat moments in the narrative.
