New US action series Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger begins on FOX8 on Sunday.
The series stars Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph as two teenagers who acquire superpowers and get romantic.
Filmed in New Orleans, this debuted in the US earlier this month.
Set in the Marvel cinematic universe, Cloak & Dagger is a brand new series based on the Marvel comic book characters of the same name. Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson come from very different backgrounds, each growing up with a secret they never dared share with another soul. Once a privileged little girl, Tandy Bowen watched as her family was destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life. Now in her late teens, an unexpected encounter with a boy named Tyrone sparks a life changing event. Young Tyrone Johnson wanted nothing more than to prove he was fearless. But when everything he held close was taken away, life taught Tyrone to be afraid. Now older and more sheltered, Tyrone closes himself off. But when he meets a girl named Tandy his life changes forever. Both teenagers find themselves both burdened and awakened by their newly acquired superpowers… whilst also dealing with their romantic feelings towards each other.

I was a big fan of the comic book so have paid for the first couple of episodes and they’ve done an excellent job so far. They have contemporised the story a fair bit and one key difference is Tandy/Dagger isn’t blind in this incarnation. I wonder if that is going to be something that happens later in the story.
