Just noticed the third and final season of The Tunnel begins tonight on ABC.
“Vengeance” is a six part series starring Clémence Poésy and Stephen Dillane, written by Emilia Di Girolamo. It aired in the UK in December.
With Brexit a real possibility, The Tunnel: Vengeance is set in Europe amidst hysteria around a refugee crisis, the increasing threat and horror of terrorism and with far-right groups growing in power.
In this series we follow detectives Karl and Elise as they are faced with toxic and terrifying duo whose hideous crimes see them take ever more dark and desperate measures to provoke the police into collaborating on their desperate endgame. Against this, is the backdrop of Karl’s fractured family life and a miscarriage of justice from Elise’s past that shakes her to her core.
10pm tonight on ABC.

This was a somewhat disappointing end to a commendable re-imagining of The Bridge, the shows regular characters had a few unrequited issues that should have been better handled. The impression was that The Tunnel plot had been stretched too far and it was just a matter of quickly wrapping the story up with no further reason for redress. A lesson could have been learned from The Bridge which gave a more satisfying open ended conclusion.
Full season then drops on iview (according to epg). Seasons 1&2 have also been there for a while (avail ’til early Aug.)
Good to see it back again.
Have really enjoyed past seasons.
Of course, could never equal The Bridge but they have done a pretty good job nevertheless.
