Microsoft gaming phenomenon Halo finally has a live action TV series to be produced by Showtime in association with Microsoft/343 Industries, and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television.
The 10 part series Halo (working title), sees Kyle Killen (Awake) serving as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will direct multiple episodes.
Halo has previously been the subject of a live-action film, web-series, digital feature and an unfinished Peter Jackson film.
In its latest adaptation Halo will take place in the universe that first came to be in 2001, dramatising an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. Halo will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.
“Halo is our most ambitious series ever, and we expect audiences who have been anticipating it for years to be thoroughly rewarded,” said Nevins. “In the history of television, there simply has never been enough great science fiction. Kyle Killen’s scripts are thrilling, expansive and provocative, Rupert Wyatt is a wonderful, world-building director, and their vision of Halo will enthral fans of the game while also drawing the uninitiated into a world of complex characters that populate this unique universe.”
Set to air in Australia on Stan, production will begin in 2019.

Sure, why not. Out of all the video games going around, Halo has one of the most in depth and interesting stories.
I suspect that NZ’s Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) will be, he has made some short You Tube videos a few years ago showing off his Weta Studio designed Halo weapons armour and vehicles, there was speculation then that Halo was going to be made as a movie but it was just a promo for a new release game (I believe). Peter and Steven have worked together on other projects (Tin Tin).
