EXCLUSIVE: ABC’s Head of Entertainment Debbie Cuell has departed the ABC in the latest high-profile exit from the broadcaster.

Cuell joined ABC a year ago following the resignation of Jon Casimir, who returned to work with Andrew Denton for Interview.

An ABC spokesperson told TV Tonight, “Debbie completed her 12-month contract with the ABC on June 1, after her great work on programmes such as Tonightly with Tom Ballard, Think Tank and the successful evolution of Gardening Australia into its current one-hour format.

“The ABC wishes Debbie all the best and looks forward to working with her in a different capacity in the near future.”

Cuell has over twenty years experience developing and producing for the commercial networks, Foxtel, and SBS and was previously Executive Producer of Development at Zapruder’s Other Films.

Her exit took place on the same day as programming boss Rebecca Heap, in what is shaping up as significant change within ABC ranks.

In unrelated news corporate spokesperson Nick Leys has also resigned.
