New SVOD service, TrueRoyalty launches.

A new SVOD service screening nothing but royal-themed content has launched internationally, and is now available in Australia.

TrueRoyalty.tv offers subscribers a mix of documentaries and factual dramas about Royalty from around the world and through the ages.

The price is $8.99 a month in Australia, or $89.99 per year, with a free 1 month trial also on offer.

Launch titles include Prince Philip at 90, Meghan Markle: How To Be A Royal, The Last Dukes and The Duke and Duchess of Windsor: The Secret Photos of their Love Story.

True Royalty was formed by media entrepreneur Gregor Angus, brand strategist Edward Mason and BAFTA-winning royal producer Nick Bullen who curates the content.

Bullen said, “People have always been obsessed with Royalty – from the Pharaohs to medieval kings right up to today’s newest royal Meghan Markle. True Royalty is a chance to share the best stories with viewers across the globe.”

  1. Here’s a fun bit of trivia: ever wonder who produces all these Royal docos & dramas? Sure, some of them are made by the BBC, ITV, Sky, etc – but surely even the combined might of the British broadcast & Pay TV industries couldn’t produce all of them, could they?

They don’t. Two of the biggest producers are a company called Odyssey Video, and the True Group of UK Sky & Freeview channels. Both were founded by Adrian Munsey, who continues to produce mostly Royal movies & docos for them.

If you can’t quite place that name – and I bet anyone of a certain age, or fans of music trivia shows from the last 20 years, will have heard it at least once – I’ll just say 3 words:

    “The Lost Sheep”.

Everyone else can Google it… 😉

Free extra trivia: he was also responsible for the remastering of “Tommy” 😉
