Nine extends contract with Mark Taylor

Long association to continue for another 3 years between Nine & cricket commentator.

Nine has extended the contract for cricket commentator, Mark Taylor, by three years.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to continue my association with the Nine family, a fantastic relationship which began over 20 years ago,” Taylor said.

“I look forward to calling all the biggest matches for the foreseeable future, including next year’s Ashes series and the cricket World Cups in the years to come.”

Nine’s Director of Sport, Tom Malone, said: “I’m so happy Mark has renewed his contract with Nine. Ian Chappell says Mark is the greatest captain he ever saw when it came to combining cricket tactics and leadership skills. He’s the perfect choice to be Wide World of Sports’ lead cricket expert over the next three years.

“Beyond that, Mark is one of the greatest people you will ever meet. Of course, he’s a former Australian of the Year and Father of the Year, and he’s been given those honours because he’s a kind and generous person -we love him here at Nine.”

Taylor will next be heard in the second game of the England vs Australia One-Day Series tonight on Nine.

David Warner will join Mark Taylor, Michael Slater and Lisa Sthalekar in the Wide World of Sports studio for a preview, while Ricky Ponting and Isa Guha headline SKY’s commentary team with Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Stuart Broad and Kumar Sangakkara.

  1. MM and Ararat, if had you bothered to read David’s report above you would not have made those statements. Mark Taylor will be a commentator on Nine for the ashes cricket series next year and the next World Cup series. He will also be 9’s Wide World of Sports’ lead cricket expert over the next three years. There is a sports program is I think on Sunday mornings.

  2. I thought that Sven and Foxtel were broadcasting the cricket from later this year and was wondering why it is stating that this guy will be calling the cricket on nine, is this a joint venture between the three channels? I don’t follow the cricket so don’t take too much notice of the broadcast rights.
