Returning: American Horror Story

"Cult" season, which begins with Trump's election, begins on Showcase in a month.

Season 7 of American Horror Story: Cult will screen on Showcase from late July.

This season, which begins with Donald Trump’s election, stars Sarah Paulson, Billie Lourde, Evan Peters and guest stars Emma Roberts, Billy Eichner and Lena Dunham.

It aired in the US last September and appears to be part of the changes surrounding TEN’s former FOX output deal. Two more seasons are already approved.

Created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the new instalment delves into real human fears in today’s world, turning them into a personal horror story. The 11-part horror drama series is set in the fictional city of Brookfield Heights, Michigan – a city that is left divided by the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Local restaurant owner Ally Mayfair-Richards (Sarah Paulson) is utterly distraught by Donald Trump’s victory and several of her longstanding phobias intensify as a result. Contrarily, a fellow Brookfield Heights resident named Kai Anderson (Evan Peters) rejoices at the election results and is enticed to pursuepolitical power, recruiting his liberal sister Winter Anderson (Billie Lourd) who dropped out of college to work on Hillary Clinton’s campaign. In the months following the election, Kai begins running for city government while Ally is targeted and relentlessly terrorized by masked clowns. Those close to her struggle to ascertain whether the attacks she alleges are real or merely anxiety-fuelled hallucinations.

Thursdays from July 26 at 8.30pm on Showcase.
