SKY News switching playout to MediaHub

SKY's broadcast technology is switching from in-house to Mediahub.

SKY News is switching its playout from in-house to MediaHub Australia.

Angelos Frangopoulos, CEO Australian News Channel said: “We are pleased to have appointed MediaHub as our new playout service provider to facilitate the growing needs of our business as we deliver more unique news, weather news, sports news and national affairs programming to even more television viewers across Australia.

“Using MediaHub will allow our business and operational focus to be fully on creating even more premium Australian programming.  Our new playout arrangements also offer advertisers more seamless integration across the wide range of our channels on Foxtel or programming on WIN.”

Earlier this week Australian News Channel confirmed a“SKY News on WIN” channel which will launch later this year across WIN’s regional network.

MediaHub currently services WIN Television, ABC, Australia Plus, Imparja Television, 7flix, and FOX Networks Group Australia featuring the National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo People, Nat Geo Wild.

  1. You do know that Sky News is an smaller imitation of Fox News in the USA …a totally conservative leaning biased station that is why they have the commentators and show they have,except for Richo though I think his leanings are so much Labour these days

It’s all interesting if your job concerns advertising but what about the news itself, Sky News still has a cut price look with too many regular in house commentators who also have their sometimes radical opinions published in other media forums as well. Sky News needs a real revamp with some new faces and better all round journalism that does not rely on headline seeking shock jock interrogation techniques. This is necessary if the Sky News producers are genuinely serious about their future business diversification outside of Pay TV.

  3. I’m not sure I understand what MediaHub does exactly. Do they control the distribution of channels, or arrange the switching between programs and ad breaks?
