Speculation over possible Endemol Shine sale

One of the world's biggest production companies may be sold.

US trade magazines are reporting the Endemol Shine Group may be sold, if it can find a buyer.

The company has hired Deutsche Bank and Liontree to evaluate a possible sale. Jointly owned by 21st Century Fox and private equity group Apollo, the company could be sold for US$4 billon, including debt.

Endemol Shine turned out more than 800 productions last year in 79 territories around the world. It is headquartered in Amsterdam, with major bases in the U.K., U.S., Latin America and Asia. The Australian arm is headed up by Mark & Carl Fennessy, producing some of the biggest shows on Australian television.

It also has subsidiaries, including Britain’s Kudos and Tiger Aspect, Germany’s Wiedemann and Berg and Toddlers and Tiaras producer Authentic Entertainment.

Possible buyers touted for a company of such scale are Discovery and Liberty Global-backed All3Media, RTL’s FremantleMedia, or Britain’s ITV.

Endemol Shine declined to comment to US media.
