With rave reviews and a brand new audience Hannah Gadsby has been facing a dilemma: how do you quit when suddenly you are a star?
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she revealed that her plan to quit comedy has backfired big time.
“We want you to do more stuff now. Now that we’ve seen this we want more,” Fallon told her.
“I’ll do something,” Gadsby replied.
“I said I was quitting, and then if I quit, I’m an idiot, now. Like, if the show had gone as badly as I’d planned, it would have worked. But now I’m left with a choice: I’ll either be an idiot or a hypocrite.
“I’ll be a hypocrite.”

After watching Nanette, the point I thought she was making was that she was quitting the self-deprecating style of comedy, not comedy altogether.
That’s what I took from it as well, no more self deprecating and her struggle to make more comedy when this was her style to begin with!
