Logie Awards 2018: guide

The stars have arrived and the Gold Coast has rolled out the red carpet.

The scene is set for a glitzy night of stars and surf as the Gold Coast plays host to Queensland’s first ever presentation of the TV Week Logie Awards.

The Star has rolled out the red carpet and celebs and execs were jetting into Coolangatta airport across Friday & Saturday. It didn’t take long for the sunny winter weather and the beach backdrop to win over southern-based TV stars.

Last night at a Screen Queensland / Stan event at The Darling, with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk telling the industry Queensland was open for production, the shift from Crown was being perceived as a breath of fresh air. Many likened the weekend sojourn to an industry summer camp.

But the showroom is smaller and a lower roof may feel like an intimate night with several hundred guests, instead of Crown’s 1000.

Voting continues until 7:28pm AEST with engravers backstage to add in winners names.

A reminder to viewers not in AEST to avoid social media spoilers. TV Tonight will be publishing Live results.

  1. So pleased that Queensland are hosting the Logie’s, its a beautiful state, although I wont be watching it, it, like the Oscar’s, is so repetitious year after year, you know what everyone’s speech is going to be, same old all the time. Good luck tonight anyway to all the participants.

  2. Well I will be happy just to see Wilmer (my old heart skips a beat). I hope the night goes off without a hitch and everyone has a great time. Busy time around Broadbeach this morning with the GC Marathon on in full swing.

    1. Are they still advising people to steer clear of the red carpet? I’m still disappointed that locals aren’t given the chance to watch the arrivals 🙁 I’m tragic, I know! 🙂

I’m glad the buzz was positive at the functions last night!

      1. Bad news. All allocated sorry. Traffic will be restricted access from 3:30 – 6:30pm anyway. The way things are set up I doubt you will see much if you tried your luck. Frankly your best chance to star spot is in the hotel / casino lobby right now, or tomorrow. Or airport Monday (lots!).

        1. Thanks for checking! They’ve just announced on the radio that “a very limited number of spots” will be available from 2pm on a “first come” basis but no indication of where to go or how to get a spot, so as you suggested, it’s not worth the hassle, given the set up there. The airport will be buzzing tomorrow for sure ?. Thanks again, David!! Enjoy the spectacle!! ?

  3. Hall of Fame my prediction is 60Mins.
i still think that this year there should be nominations for sports show i.e. nrl footy show, afl footy show

  4. I wonder what the weather is like in Melbourne today. All those people who winged about it being on the Gold Coast. I bet they will be glad of it when they get off the plane to a beautiful warm sunny day.

    1. (Very) Unfortunately, rain is forecast for this afternoon on The Gold Coast, although it’s supposed to hold off between 4pm and 7pm (i.e. red carpet time). Maximum 20 today (yesterday it got to 24). Still much better than Melbourne’s temps! 🙂
