SKY News CEO Angelos Frangopolous has resigned after more than 20 years with Australian News Channel.
Frangopolous has sent a note to staff to indicate he will move to a role with SKY in Abu Dhabi.
“It’s with mixed emotions I share the news that I have decided to move on to a new SKY News opportunity -in Abu Dhabi no less,” he wrote.
“This company has been my passion and my life for more than 20 years, but I believe now with our new partnership initiatives and investments in place, it is the right time to pursue a new challenge. I have accepted the role as Chief Executive Officer and managing editor of SKY News Arabia.
“It is a joint venture between UK-based SKY Plc (one of our former shareholders) and ADMIC. SKY News Arabia is broadcast to an estimated 50 million households. The shareholders have a significant growth strategy to extend the reach of its 500 journalists who work in 24 countries.”
