Tears as House Rules locks on grand finalists

There were tears all round last night on House Rules, including for host Johanna Griggs.

NSW dairy farmers Toad & Mandy and Queensland couple Mel & Dave will compete in the House Rules grand final next Monday night.

Finalists were locked in last night after WA couple Chiara & David were eliminated.

There were tears all round last night, including for host Johanna Griggs, as a home was renovated for single mother, Chelsea, whose partner Wayde died in a tragic accident 12 months ago.

“This is just what we dreamed,” said Chelsea. “He (Wayde) would just be so happy his girls are so looked after.

“That’s why we applied for House Rules because we knew we would never be able to make this happen. I just want to thank them so much.”

Mel and Dave scored 29 points ahead of Toad & Mandy’s 24 points and Chiara & David’s 20 points.

David, who at one point indicated he was about to pass out, said: “I’m so grateful we get to go home to our beautiful three kids; we’ve got an amazing renovated home. I’ll forever be grateful for this opportunity and what it’s taught us as a couple.”

Seven screens the Grand Final 7:30pm Monday night.

Addiction and demons is a life long battle ?

  2. The show is rigged, it should be a blind judging and/or incorporate a public vote. No way was that deck a pass. The judges pet gets through to the final, surprise surprise.

    1. There shouldn’t ever be a bonus “room” regardless. In this case, the scoring before the deck was quite clear and indicative of the quality of the three zones. The right team was eliminated, but the process was definitely not transparent.
