Announcements about TEN’s Pilot Week are expected by the end of the month according to media reports, but TEN has confirmed Taboo with comedian and former radio host Harley Breen will be part of the mix.
Content Chief Beverley McGarvey told the Australian Financial Review, “It’s such a brilliant idea – it’s a format out of northern Europe but it’s not the sort of thing anybody in this market would have done any other way.
“The idea is that there are certain people on the fringes of society that are so on the fringes of society that people don’t even make jokes about them.”
Breen will leave the comforts of his home and live with groups of different people for five days, immersing himself, getting to know their issues, what bugs them and what life is really like for them.
“Then, at the end of a period of time, he does a stand-up set that he writes with them in mind and those people sit in this studio and he effectively makes jokes about them.”
Sounds different!
Dates for Pilot Week are yet to be announced.

As a fan of Harley’s, I’ll be watching when this goes to air. Not sure I’d even give it a go without Harley Breen though.
Intriguing, but I hope to be laughing with the subjects more than at them. Also, as a sidenote, Harley looks like Joel McHale.
Was excited about the Drunk History announcement, but not to sure about this one. Still good to see them testing new concepts.
No thanks
