Vale: Elmarie Wendel

Veteran US actress Elmarie Wendel, best known for 3rd Rock from the Sun, has died, aged 89.

Her daughter, JC Wendel, confirmed the news on Instagram, noting “#ripelmariewendel you were a great mom and a badass dame” but the cause of death has not been revealed.

Wendel played 3rd Rock‘s landlady Mrs. Dubcek, known for her delightfully gaudy attire and oversexed one-liners, in a recurring role in the first 2 seasons before a regular role for 3 more seasons.

Although Wendel found stardom in the 1990s, she had been acting since 1961, with credits including Knight Rider, The Facts of Life, Seinfeld, Murder She Wrote, Murphy Brown, The Jeffersons, The Facts of Life and NYPD Blue.
