First pics of Sabrina

Reimagined Sabrina and Riverdale companion is due in late October.

Netflix has released the first images of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The Riverdale companion stars Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) and, like its predecessor, is a dark reimagining of the original, promising horror, the occult and witchcraft. Miranda Otto plays Aunt Zelda.

As the Hollywood Reporter notes, “Sabrina imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist (Ed: a very big call), the adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.”

It is due for release in late October.

    1. No as it changed when it went to Netflix:

“The series was originally conceived as a companion series to Riverdale when it was in development for The CW; however, after the series was moved to Netflix, it was unclear if any connection would remain. In January 2018, CW president Mark Pedowitz noted that, at the moment, there is no discussion about crossing over. In March 2018, Jon Goldwater confirmed that the two series were two separate entities for right now but would love it if they could figure out a way to cross over.

Filming takes place in Vancouver, British Columbia, where both seasons will be shot back-to-back.”

  1. Ah that’s smart basing it on the 2014 comic series of the same name which spun off from the Afterlife with Archie comics, looking forward to it especially now it’s a Netflix show rather than a CW one.
