Val Lehman, Colette Mann, Maggie Kirkpatrick, Fiona Spence, Patsy King, Betty Bobbitt, Jane Clifton to celebrate 40 years of Prisoner.

Former Prisoner star Val Lehman today confirmed a cast reunion to celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary next February.

Former cast members* will reunite at a Melbourne CBD venue (awww, not Wentworth Detention Centre) on Sunday 24th February 2019.

Cast members in attendance will include Val Lehman (Bea Smith), Event MC Jane Clifton (Margo Gaffney), Maggie Kirkpatrick (Joan ‘The Freak’ Ferguson), Colette Mann (Doreen Anderson), Fiona Spence (Vera Bennett, a.k.a. ‘Vinegar Tits’), Patsy King (Governor Erica Davidson), Amanda Muggleton (Chrissie Latham), Betty Bobbitt (Judy Bryant), Anne Phelan (Myra Desmond), Jentah Sobott (Mouse), Jacqui Gordon (Susie Driscoll), Maxine Klibingaitis (Bobbie Mitchell) and (the one and only gent) flown in especially from Arizona, Gerard Maguire (Deputy Governor Jim Fletcher a.k.a. Fletch the Letch).

Prisoner fans world wide have been begging me for a 40th Anniversary celebration after the success of my last big event in 2009 for the 30th! With a cast list of 13 and capacity for 300 fans it’s going to be BIG! I can promise a few surprises. I’m happy to announce the cast are looking forward to it too. Sadly our numbers are now dwindling, well we’re all getting on. This is definitely the last Prisoner event I will be mounting… so don’t let me down!” she joked.

“You’ll also be able to check out the new Prisoner action figure  dolls at my Event, maybe you’ll win a set as well as meeting the woman who created them,” Lehman continued. “Come and help us celebrate Australia’s most internationally recognised, awarded, celebrated and ground-breaking TV series ever… and there will be more so don’t miss out,.”

  1. A shame to hear the Prisoner cast are dwindling. I’m also surprised Foxtel have decided to not contract talent for any further series of Wentworth. I guess they have decided to end the show on a high after their Logie successes.

  2. Is Elspeth Ballantyne, the only actor to stay with the series for its entire run, not in good health these days or is she enjoying retirement and preferring to stay out of the public eye?

    1. ACA did a story about Prisoner, possibly for the 30th Anniversary, and Elspeth, Judith McGrath, Val Lehman and a few others were part of the story. A couple of things Elspeth said indicated she didn’t get along well with Val Lehman, perhaps that’s why she isn’t involved with this upcoming reunion.
