Jennifer Aniston favours Friends return

Reunion, reboot, repeat, rehash....“I fantasise about it. It really was the greatest job I ever had."

Amid all the reunion and reboot stories going around Jennifer Aniston has told InStyle magazine, she wouldn’t mind a reunion of the Friends cast.

“Before that show ended, people were asking if we were coming back. Courteney (Cox) and Lisa (Kudrow) and I talk about it,” said Aniston.

She added, “I fantasise about it. It really was the greatest job I ever had. I don’t know what it would look like today, but you never know. So many shows are being successfully rebooted.”

In the interview, Aniston said that Matt LeBlanc doesn’t like to be asked about a reunion show but adds, “maybe we could talk him into it.” Then she gave another idea for a different kind of reboot.

“Or we just give it some time and then Lisa, Courteney, and I could reboot The Golden Girls and spend our last years together on wicker furniture!”

  1. The quoted text doesn’t sound like she’s taking the piss. And if you read the actual source article you can tell she isn’t. She even comments, as a point of contrast, that LeBlanc isn’t keen. The irony is that if you read the InStyle article she goes on about being painted a certain way in the media, and here we have people misconstring her own words.

  2. Also 100% agree. It’s one of my favourite ever shows. But I don’t want it to come back and tbh I don’t think it will. The producers have always been pretty adamant about not bringing it back. The actors probably are just sick of getting the same questions asked over and over again so just ‘take the piss’ sometimes as you said and throw out different responses.

  3. I think she is taking the piss.
I don’t see Friends needing a reboot. I’m such a massive fan of the show and I still watch the show literally every night.
It ended so perfectly and the show captured the essence of your 20s. I don’t know it would be anywhere near the same with all the characters in their late 40s or early 50s. The all had new things happening in their life, they’d no longer be living in each other’s pockets so the essence of the show just wouldn’t be the same.

    1. Completely agree. I’ve always loved this show and have for a very long time desperately wanted a reunion. But it just wouldn’t work now. I don’t think a reboot will ever happen.

    2. I love Friends but agree that it wouldn’t work anywhere near enough to feel right. Somehow Will & Grace has managed to do it though. Admittedly it has had a few missteps but overall it has genuinely captured the feel (and look) of the show i loved that finished in 2006, only 2 years after the Friends finale. It probably helps that the cast haven’t changed as much as the Friends crew and the comedy i feel was more witty. Other shows that i would like to see come back (that i think would work) are 3rd Rock From The Sun, Kath & Kim and Extras.
