Actor John Jarratt, best known for his role in Wolf Creek, has been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a woman more than 40 years ago.
In a statement, NSW Police allege Jarratt raped an 18-year-old woman in September 1976 at a home in Randwick.
“Following inquiries, yesterday a 66-year-old man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for the offence of rape,” NSW Police said.
Jarratt was 23 at the time of the alleged rape and has previously denied all claims.
Speaking to a reporter today, Jarratt said the allegation was “ridiculous and untrue”.
“It’s fine, because I’m innocent,” he said.
“Because I’m a good man.”
He is due to appear before Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 10th October.
