LifeStyle boss to depart Foxtel

Hannah Barnes has resigned from Foxtel after 9 years, overseeing some of its most popular shows.

LifeStyle General Group Manager Hannah Barnes has resigned from Foxtel and will depart at the end of October.

She has held the role for 4 years following  5 years as LifeStyle’s Director of Programming and Acquisitions and General Manager.

Amongst her commissions have been Grand Designs Australia, Selling Houses, River Cottage, Village Vets, Great Australian Bake Off, Gogglebox and Love It Or List It Australia.

“Hannah has made an indelible mark on the success of the genre over the course of her stewardship and the Lifestyle group is the envy of our competitors,” Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh wrote in an email to staff.

“Her craftsmanship is admired throughout our industry, both here in Australia and internationally.

“An exceptional leader and advocate for equal opportunity, Hannah has led a high achieving team who admire and respect her. Throughout her time at Foxtel she has actively mentored many staff across the business.”

“This has not been an easy decision for me because I have loved every minute of my nine years here,” Barnes told her colleagues. “I have worked with the most fabulous people, both off screen and on screen. I am proud of many things that I have achieved but our world class local productions are the thing that really standout. Our numbers for Gogglebox last night just prove how much Australians love our shows.”

Barnes is yet to announce her next plans, adding, “I am ready to embark on my next adventure and to start the next chapter of what has been an incredible career both in the UK and now back in Australia.”

  1. I’m not sure that Lifestyle programming experience is of much use at the Networks these days.
More likely looking for the next mega reality hit, and River Cottage and all the other UK spin offs adapted to the local market just ain’t gonna cut it …

    1. I have said it many times but l think Ten could add a crime/law n order channel. The ratings on One, eg NCIS on Monday, indicate people are watching these shows. Ten have a vast suite of shows they could air local & from CBS.
