Nine leads quiet Thursday

Ratings: Seven News tops the night, before the network was soon locked in a battle with SBS.

Thursday was one of those nights where there were so many different market changes surrounding sport that it’s hard to make direct comparisons.

Suffice to say that whilst Seven led in the early part of the evening, Nine dominated overall with a combined offering, and TEN topped the demos.

Everybody was under the magic million but Seven News topped the night at 992,000/ 955,000 ahead of Nine News on 865,000 / 849,000.

Australian Survivor was best in entertainment stakes at 664,000, topping the demos. From around 8pm it was locked in a battle with Nine’s combined offering of three different titles in various states. ABC was ranking third, leaving Seven to slug it out with SBS between Singles Wives and a Tony Robinson doco.

Nine held an extended AFL Footy Show telethon which drew 472,000 numbers nationally. The Front Bar was higher in Melbourne 209,000 v 175,000 albeit with a shorter show.

From 9pm only Nine and Seven were left on the map, with everybody else on underwhelming numbers.

Nine network won Thursday with 29.1% then Seven 26.6%, TEN 19.7%, ABC 15.3% and SBS 9.2%.

Nine News (865,000 / 849,000) led for Nine then A Current Affair (709,000), Hot Seat (488,000 / 300,000), The Footy Show (472,000), Thursday Night NRL (438,000 in  cities). Driving Test was 106,000 in 2 cities and RBT was 93,000 in 2 cities.

Seven News was #1 for Seven with 992,000 / 955,000 followed by Home and Away (615,000), The Chase (583,000 / 334,000), Beach Cops (361,000), The Front Bar (328,000), The Single Wives (298,000) and Surveillance Oz (180,000).

Australian Survivor (664,000) was best for TEN then The Project (532,000 / 295,000), TEN Eyewitness News (366,000), Pointless (236,000) and Law & Order: SVU (233,00).

ABC News (677,000), 7:30 (525,000), Grand Designs Australia (480,000), Sammy J (298,000), Everyone’s a Critic (250,000), Think Tank (205,000) and Victoria (154,000) comprised ABC’s night.

On SBS it was Tony Robinson: Britain’s Ancient Tracks (297,000), Batavia Revealed (255,000), The Price of Gold (140,000), SBS World News (125,000) and The Chef’s Line (56,000).

7TWO’s Father Brown topped multichannels at 219,000.

  1. I came across Tony Robinson’s “Britain’s Ancient Tracks” purely by accident. Now into series 2 in the UK. Tony’s SBS walks are being repeated with more ads and less pixels on 7Two and the ABC is repeating his “Time Walks”. Is FTA trying to tell us something about exercise?
