SBS on Demand: The Lawyer

Nordic thriller delving into Copenhagen's underworld to screen in September.

In September SBS on Demand will screen 2018 Nordic thriller The Lawyer, co-created by the creator of The Bridge.

This features a mix of both Swedish and Danish language, with English subtitles.

All ten episodes will be available at once.

Frank Nordling (Alexander Karim) is a young and exceptionally promising defence lawyer. When Frank learns the truth behind his adoptive parents’ death, his whole world unravels. As children, Frank and his sister Sara (Malin Buska) witnessed their parents die in an explosion. As an adult, Frank finds out they were murdered by one of the leaders in Copenhagen’s criminal underworld, Thomas Waldman (Thomas Bo Larsen).

To Frank’s horror, Waldman also happens to be one of his law firm’s most prominent clients – a man that the firm has helped escape justice on numerous occasions. In order to avenge his parents, Frank must infiltrate Waldman’s organisation and become his personal lawyer and trusted confidant. To avoid putting those close to him in danger, Frank must keep up appearances and play the game. But can he handle it? Is it worth the price? And who’s really tricking whom?

The Lawyer is a Nordic thriller series set in Malmö, the crime capital of Southern Sweden, and the nearby Danish capital Copenhagen. A Viaplay Original and TV3 drama produced by SF Studios, The Lawyer is based on a concept created by internationally bestselling author Jens Lapidus (Easy Money), acclaimed screenwriter and creator of The Bridge, Hans Rosenfeldt, and bestselling author, scriptwriter, and director Michael Hjorth (Sebastian Bergman), with Academy Award nominee Nicklas Wikström Nicastro and Joakim Hansson as producers.

Thursday, 13 September 2018 on SBS On Demand.
