TEN tops week but Seven scores crucial victory

Ratings: Seven scores its 21st ratings week of the year -the very number Nine uses to decide a winner.

It was a big week of finales, with MasterChef topping the week at 1.32m viewers.

But despite taking on TEN’s cooking and Nine’s Ninja Warriors, it was another win to Seven -its 21st week of the 40 week ratings year.  21 weeks is the measure Nine News used to claim the year in Sydney. Awkward.

  1. You know what’s farcical, I’ve noticed this year more than ever, even weeks with no major rating program or event.

Nine (for example) could have a night of 40% and another of 30%.

And Seven would still win, solely off the back of Friday and Saturday performance, as well as Nine’s shares plunging those nights and shares being relatively close on other nights.

So makes me wonder if Nine even care about winning total people so they can claim top network, when you look at it like that, you’d think not. I know already they say they’re focussed on demographics, but you could also look at that as an example of “well, of course, they would say that”?
