The Block scores for Nine, multichannels push Seven to win.

Ratings: Curiosity is over for some comedy viewers, Jack Irish strong for ABC.

The curiosity factor was over for some last night with TEN up against Nine’s reality juggernaut, but ABC stayed strong in local drama.

The Block led in entertainment shows at 1.19m, up from 1.16m last Sunday, and topped the demos.

It bettered Little Big Shots on 878,000 and All Aussie Adventures (from 7:30pm) at 634,000. Both were down on last week with Russell Coight dropping by a hefty 247,000 viewers.

60 Minutes on 733,000 just edged out the Jack Irish finale on 727,000 with Sunday Night (from 8pm) on 573,000. A TEN movie was well behind on just 229,000 and contributed to a poor performance by the network overall. 7mate even beat TEN’s main channel in Brisbane.

Seven News topped the night with a strong 1.25m viewers well ahead of Nine News on 1.02m.

Nine led in primary channels but multichannels helped Seven network win Sunday with 33.1% then Nine 30.8%, ABC 17.5%, TEN 12.0% and SBS 6.5%.

Seven News was #1 for Seven with 1.25m viewers then Little Big Shots (878,000), Sunday Night (573,000) and Crime Investigation Australia (365,000).

  1. Sunday night is meant to be the peak viewing evening of the week and Nine just put a repeat of Doctor Doctor on their main channel – that is a weak choice on their part.

Heads really should roll at Ten – they simply don’t have the right to keep scheduling failed programs. The Project needs to go immediately and the new Sports Tonight really is an embarrassment for a prime time offering.

  2. Sadly yes…as themews stated…Aussie Adventures is a bit old school for many….they don’t get that kind of slapstick comedy….
I enjoyed Jack Irish…and also the repeat of Vera…being old…I forgot enough to enjoy watching it… *G*

  3. Ten must surely be ready to move Sports Tonight. Elementary might’ve been even lower than last weeks 49k looking at ST numbers.
Aside from Russel, Sunday is almost rating lower than its Saturday night.
With a free run on Sundays, It sets the Block up nicely for the week.
