Veronica Mars revival in the works

Creator Rob Thomas & star Kristen Bell are both on board plans for sleuthing series comeback.

A Veronica Mars revival is the latest show in development in the US with studio Warner Bros. and Hulu.

Creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell, who is currently appearing on The Good Place, are reportedly both on board plans to bring back the series which ran for 3 seasons from 2004.

Veronica Mars followed a California teen sleuth and student (Bell) who moonlit as a private investigator under her detective father (Enrico Colantoni). A fan-funded film followed in 2014.

According to Entertainment Weekly, several elements of the deal are not yet closed: “What’s the storyline? How many episodes? Will other original series actors get invited back? When will it air? All TBD.”

  1. I just finished watching my Logan and Veronica romantic highlights and I can’t help myself. I am a little excited about the prospects for a revival.

MuchoTB Logan was not abusive. They are just 2 traumatised people with spiky personalities.

  2. Like ‘Buffy’, it was best when in the hothouse of high school-dynamics change immensely out in the wide world-didn’t think much of the fan film-not awful but not that interesting.

  3. The movie was awful, Veronica belongs with Piz, not that abusive man Logan. People that advocate Veronica with Logan are advocating for abusive relationships. Same people that supported Chuck and Blair on gossip girl!

    1. I think your assertion that people supporting Veronica and Logan as a couple translates to advocating abusive relationships is a radical interpretation of the text, and just a tad insulting to fans.

Their relationship is dysfunctional, and it isn’t always healthy, particularly in the third season, but it’s on both sides, not just because of Logan. They’re both distinctly flawed characters, who have messed up histories. That’s why their relationships works.

There was also more chemistry between Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring than there was between Kristen Bell and Chris Lowell, and the audiences responded accordingly. I had nothing against Piz, he was a good guy and I wish he’d been treated better. But the writers came across a good thing and went with it.

As for the movie, not surprised you didn’t like it, given it was LoVe heavy. I loved it. Not just for Logan and…

    1. I am a fan of the original show, having watched it twice and edited down the highlights of Logan and Veronica’s relationship (and Logan and the cute chick from the carnival) for future viewing. I agree with, “most”. The movie did absolutely nothing for me. So I can’t be excited by any revival.

      1. By the way, thought I worded it poorly, when I said “not a fan”, I meant I haven’t really watched it before (not that I dislike it). 🙂

    2. I loved the movie. And the books that followed even more. It’s not to everyone’s taste, though, which is fine. Got to have variety in the world.
