7mate, 7TWO help Seven to another week.

Ratings: If Nine wants to knock off Seven it will need to improve programming on its multichannels.

Nine was a clear leader in the primary channels last week but the strength of 7mate and 7TWO helped Seven to another week in network share.

AFL again brought it home for Seven, including an 8.3% share for 7mate on Friday night -more than TEN’s primary channel. If Nine wants to knock off Seven it will need to improve programming on its multichannels -9Life is particularly low.

But Nine did score in the demos, which is its priority.

  1. What are Ten planning for the next 10 Sundays to stop them slipping to fourth?
    Nine doing very well.
Not exactly wrong but didn’t Mondays Survivor hit 700k+ David?

  2. Considering 7flix and 9life are not available to large swathes of Australia who have to rely on the slightly quirky VAST system, I wonder how that would affect viewing numbers?

  3. Not only is 7flix doing better than 9Life (even though it started months later and still isn’t available in all areas of Australia), but 7flix is doing very well in the demographics, beating Eleven at times in that metric, especially young women.
Because of the programming, it can re-run lots of content from Seven’s expensive licencing/content supply deals (various movie / TV show re-runs), something 9Life is very limited by with it’s “lifestyle” programming.

9Gem has also been poor for some years now, doing 1% shares some nights on a weekly basis too.

Nine definitely need a refresh of their digital channels.
