AFL Grand Final on connected TVs

AFL Grand Final comes to Telstra TV, Apple TV, Fetch TV, PlayStation 4 & compatible Android devices.

Seven will Live stream the AFL Grand Final on select Connected TVs for the very first time.

It will be available on Telstra TV, Apple TV, Fetch TV, PlayStation 4 and compatible Android TV devices on Saturday.

Seven West Media’s Chief Digital Officer Clive Dickens said: “Today’s announcement marks another ground-breaking landmark in the rapid evolution of Australian live and free-to-air television online.

“Watching Seven on Connected TVs has exploded since we launched 7plus, making us the number one Commercial FTA Live Streaming BVOD operator in the market, and it is only right that we give our audiences what they want – the biggest and best sporting final of the year on more of the screens of Seven.”

Seven West Media’s Chief Revenue Officer Kurt Burnette said: “We’re delighted to once again deliver live Addressable TV at real scale in a brand safe environment. As Professor Karen Nelson-Field’s research shows, BVOD, whether delivered on a Connected TV, computer or mobile device, delivers a significantly stronger sales impact for brands than the biggest online-only video platforms on their best performing screen, mobile.”

  1. I think the streaming will be via 7 Plus or they will add an app , like they did the the Tennis , both were free to use , unless they go the way that they did with the tennis app , where you had to pay for HD at some point , you can stream all 7 channels on the Fetch tv box via 7 plus

    1. Partly it has streaming subscription packages for $6 p/m and others for more $’s like World Channels, BeIN Sports and Optus Sports, along with a rental/buy service for Movies and TV Shows similar to renting or buying via Google Play or iTunes. Plus Apps for Hayu, Stan, Netflix, and catchups via apps to iView, SBS On-Demand, TENplay, 7Plus, 9Now and others, PPV’s for UFC and Boxing with a Free To Air Tuner in it and harddrive recorder with series record so similar to an Foxtel IQ (if you ave the Fetch Mighty).

So basically it is a media hub box that you can get plenty out of without having to subscribe to their packages, so if Foxtel offered up say 7Plus as a shortcut app it probably would be on there like that (as opposed to just Seven via an IQ Box Channel).
