Brownlow Medal down but Seven wins Monday

Ratings: Tom Mitchell's Brownlow in is down on 2017 numbers but still strong enough to send Seven an easy victory.

Seven’s annual Brownlow Medal once again put it into a winning position, even though Tom Michell’s win was largely a drawcard in three states and well down on 2017 numbers.

The Block won its slot with 962,000 viewers and topped 2 demos, but was down on last Monday’s 1.09m. Including on 7mate the Brownlow Medal drew 895,000 viewers -dropping on last year’s 1.09m viewers- with 544,000 of them in Melbourne alone. Australian Story and Australian Survivor followed, on 627,000 for the latter, then 7:30.

Overruns notwithstanding Have You Been Paying Attention? edged ahead after 8:30 on 638,000 with guest host Chris Brown. Four Corners and Media Watch followed, as Nine opted for a staggered schedule in various cities due to Seven’s event.

24 Hours in Emergency led for SBS on 190,000.

Seven News, ACA and The Chase won their slots.

Seven network won Monday with 35.8% then Nine 24.7%, TEN 17.4%, ABC 16.1% and SBS 6.0%.

Seven News was #1 with 1.11m / 1.09m then Brownlow Medal (895,000/ 633,000), The Chase (668,000 / 401,000) Home and Away (523,000 in 3 cities), Highway Patrol (256,000 / 156,000 in 2 cities). Movie: Captain Phillips was 120,000 in 3 cities.

Nine News (965,000 / 923,000) led for Nine then The Block (962,000), A Current Affair (832,000), Hot Seat (506,000 / 313,000), Doctor Doctor (315,00 in 2 cities), Buying Blind (159,000 in 3 cities), Dr. Christian Jessen Will See You Now (132,000). 100% Footy was just 38,000 in 2 cities.

Have You Been Paying Attention? was best for TEN on 638,000 then Australian Survivor (627,000), The Project (553,000 / 300,000), TEN Eyewitness News (416,000), Pointless (251,000), and Street Smart (173,000).

ABC News (702,000), Australian Story (667,000), Four Corners (623,000), 7:30 (617,000), Media Watch (567,000) and David Attenborough’s Flying Monsters (245,000) comprised ABC’s night.

On SBS it was 24 Hours in Emergency (190,000), The Other Prince William (186,000), SBS World News (135,000), Hugh’s Fat Fight (121,000), and The Chef’s Line (63,000).

ONE’s NCIS topped multichannels at 178,000.

  1. I agree Matilda. Poor host and a poor job by the contestants/comedians who forgot who they were trying to make laugh. Hopefully it will see a pick up next Monday.
