Wins for Game of Thrones, The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, The Assassination of Gianni Versace, The Crown -and a marriage proposal.

The Marvellous Mrs. MaiselGame of Thrones and The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story were amongst big winners at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.

Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel picked up 5 awards including Best Comedy, The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story won 3 and HBO’s Game of Thrones won 2 including Best Drama.

Also winning 2 were Godless, The Crown, Barry and The Americans.

The show opened with a clever musical comment on diversity “We Solved It” with RuPaul, Ricky Martin, John Legend and more -joking that there was no room for straight, white guys.

Saturday Night Live’s Colin Jost and Michael Che as hosts withe more jokes on US issues including politics, harassment, diversity and streaming services.

96 year old Betty White was given a standing ovation, just for turning up. And why shouldn’t she?

  1. i was going to say ‘great! i’ve always liked Alex Borstein since she was on Freaks & Geeks’….till i realized it was a completely different actress lol, i swear her & Linda Cardellini could be sisters!

  2. So happy for all the wins for The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. It’s a truly wonderful show. Any Sherman-Palladino was always overlooked for her exceptional work on Gilmore Girls, but it seems that now she’s on a prestigious streaming service, she’s finally getting her dues, and good for her!

  3. Just heard Hannah Gadsby’s bit…and didn’t get it. I like her, but she must have written her routine for American humour.

    Lucky that guy didn’t tell anyone he was proposing. The directors would never have allowed a traditional wedding proposal if they had known in advance.
