“I’m Julie Chen Moonves. Goodnight.”

Wife of former CBS boss Les Moonves makes an unscripted show of support as she returns to television.

Julie Chen, wife of former CBS Chairman and CEO Les Moonves, returned to television in the US after days of no-shows on The Talk.

Chen also hosts Big Brother for CBS and this week signed off with an unscripted “I’m Julie Chen Moonves. Goodnight.”

Chen has stood by her embattled husband of nearly 14 years since allegations surfaced in July but this week did not front for the Season 9 premiere of The Talk.

She previously said in a statement, “I have known my husband, Leslie Moonves, since the mid-90s, and I have been married to him for almost 14 years. Leslie is a good man and loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader. He has always been a kind, decent and moral human being. I fully support my husband and stand by him and his statement.”

Moonves himself acknowledged advances made towards women in the past were “mistakes” but has denied using his position to harm or hinder anyone’s career. Standing down from his CBS role this week he denied the latest allegations.

Chen’s co-hosts Eve, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood have been forced to address the issue this week.

Sara Gilbert said, “I support her always. However, this is an important time in our culture and just because this hits close to home, it doesn’t change this story. All women’s stories matter. This is very serious and the appropriate actions need to take place. I am happy when women are heard because for a long time they haven’t been.”

CBS appointed Joseph Ianniello, CBS’ chief operating officer, as president and acting CEO.
