New monsters in Doctor Who, but never say never.

No Daleks, Cybermen nor Weeping Angels this season but "we might do that in future," says showrunner.

In case you hadn’t heard the new season of Doctor Who will have no Daleks, Cybermen nor Weeping Angels, with new monsters and villains taking centrestage.

But showrunner Chris Chibnall is not ruling out reappearances from classic foes sometime in the future.

“It’s not like a rule forever in Doctor Who,” he said, responding to the query of a young fan.

“It’s just that this year in the series we’ve got new monsters and new faces, but as is relatively well-known, I’m as big a fan of the show as anyone. So there’s lots of things you would like to bring back, and we might do that in future. But just not this year.”

The stand-alone episodes will also have no room for Missy, River Song, nor the gang of Victorian detectives led by the alien Madame Vastra.

It begins on October 8.
