Renewed: Insatiable

Controversial “revenge comedy” Insatiable for a second season by Netflix.

Created by Lauren Gussis and based in part on her experience, the series was picked up to series at Netflix after earlier development for The CW. The show revolves around an overweight teenager (Debbie Ryan) who seeks revenge on those that tormented her after she loses the weight.

But it also triggered a Change.org petition attracting hundreds of thousands of signatures — after many took issue with the show for perpetuating the “toxicity of diet culture” and the “objectification of women’s bodies.”

While reviews of the series describe it as “poorly done and misguided” it has an 83% audience rating at Rotten Tomatoes. Critics rate it just 11%.

Insatiable will return in 2019.
