Ruby Entertainment options titles by prison psychologist

Production company plans to adapt books by Tim Watson-Munro into TV series.

Producers Ruby Entertainment (The Secret River, Kath & Kim, Rostered On) have optioned two books for TV adaptation by author & psychologist Tim Watson-Munro.

Dancing with Demons is Watson-Munro’s account of his high profile, high stress life working amongst Australia’s most notorious criminals including Hoddle St mass killer Julian Knight, Underbelly‘s Black Prince of Lygon St. Alphonse Gangitano and high-flying billionaire Alan Bond.

A Shrink in the Clink detailing more high profile crime over his 40 years working as a criminal psychologist, has also been optioned.

Watson-Munro had his own fall from grace, pleading guilty to one count of use and one of possession of cocaine and slapped with a 12-month good behaviour bond, a $1000 fine but no conviction. The following year he was stripped of his professional title by the Victorian Psychologists Registration Board which for several years prevented him from running a clinical practice.

Producer Stephen Luby said, “In Dancing with Demons and A Shrink in the Clink, Tim Watson- Munro has achieved a remarkable blend of front row access to contemporary Australia’s darkest crimes and minds, and searingly honest personal revelation. To have been in the shadows as he has, and to have emerged with such insight, compassion and amazing stories, makes Tim a truly unique voice in the noisy marketplace of true crime. We are thrilled to be working with Tim to develop his work into a truly unique, shocking and moving piece of television.”
