TEN confirms variety show scoops
Updated: Dancing with the Stars, Sunday Night Take Away & Celebrity Name Game hosts all confirmed.

Sunday newspapers have today confirmed TV Tonight‘s exclusive that Grant Denyer & Amanda Keller will host Dancing with the Stars.
The show is revived by TEN early next year, produced by Warner Bros. Studios Australia.
They have also confirmed Julia Morris and Dr. Chris Brown as hosts of a local version of Saturday Night Take Away –as reported exclusively by TV Tonight back in May.
They will front Sunday Night Take Away produced by ITV Studios Australia. The studio-audience show includes musical numbers, hidden camera pranks and prize giveaways.
“It’s not like anything else we’ve seen in this country,” Julia Morris tells Fairfax. “It’s feel-good stuff. I think we just want to sit down with family and friends and not watch nastiness any more.”
A planned attempt to stage the variety series by Seven in 2016 did not eventuate.
Grant Denyer will also host Celebrity Name Game, first reported last month.

Julia Morris said: “I absolutely love Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and can’t believe my luck that I get to stand alongside my beloved Docteur and host our very own local version of the show.
“Takeaway is the ultimate combination of hilarious, exciting, heartwarming and completely nuts. The Docteur and I are a natural fit!”
Chris Brown added: “This is such an exciting and dynamic show to be a part of. But best of all, it’s got a massive heart that will deliver such a huge hit of warmth into Australian lounge rooms. Just like Takeaway should.
“Julia and I have forged such a delightfully unique and fun friendship in our jungle treehouse so the thought of bringing that to an Australian studio that isn’t a major lightning hazard is incredibly exciting.”
Chris & Julia’s Sunday Night Takeaway is an ITV Studios Global Entertainment format from the UK based on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway which was created by hosts, Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. It has been airing on ITV since 2002, as well as being made locally in a further 10 countries including the US and Germany.
ITV Studios Australia CEO, David Mott, said: “Takeaway is simply the biggest global entertainment format around. The perfect marriage of Julia and Chris’ incredible talent, along with the format will be the ultimate variety show.
“Chris & Julia’s Sunday Night Takeaway is going to be the most fun night in you’ve ever had. Big fun, live and dangerous television is back.”

Amanda Keller said: “I can’t wait to be part of the spangley madness that is Dancing With The Stars. Having been a terrified, uncoordinated contestant, it will be fun to lend a sympathetic ear and a spare sequin or two, to a new batch of amateur hoofers.
“My own brand of dancing failed to the impress all those years ago. Hopefully I’ll have more success this time around – off the dance floor.
“I’m so excited. And let’s face it, this is the only way I’m guaranteed to get to the grand finale.”

Well I’m a lone voice here. I’m looking forward to these new shows & I don’t mind Grant Denyer. I met him when I lived in Sydney when he was with Sunrise & he was very nice & friendly.
Sadly, I think having Julia and Grant across three shows each will cause them to fail.

Agreed!!! And I dare say that in most cases these shows will not overlap so it’s actually no different to a single host like being on screen all year- in fact it’s better as they will be fronting three different formats rather than just one!!!!!

I don’t think it’s the shows themselves that most people are against. It’s the overuse of one particular host for 3 shows which could potentially threaten the success of the shows that people seem concerned by.
Sorry Ten but it all sounds like crap! I am tho looking forward to playing for keeps.
Why don’t they just revive Hey Hey on 10?
It could work but not with the old cast. I loved the format, it was loose but would need a modern revamp with new cast. Julia Morris would be good as main host.
The thing that puts me off is yet again they are using the same hosts over and over again. I won’t be watching the Saturday show because i’m so sick of Julia Morris. She is overrated and imo not funny. Why can’t channel ten find some fresh new talent instead?
I don’t think any of the above shows will be sucessful for ten. Simply put, these shows are not ten.
Ten was always the “Young, Hip” network and these shows seem like shows that skew towards an older demo.
“Young, Hip” people don’t watch broadcast TV, that’s not their demo anymore.
Probably because young viewers have moved on from TV. Ratings show this so networks have to move to the middle ground.
Well that means Dancing With the Stars will feature celebs from The Project and Neighbours.
It will make a nice change from Sunrise & Home & Away.
My tip is Carrie Bickmore will be on the first season. She loves to dance.

It is you, not me. I have tried to support you over the past year, but it is just too hard. How is putting Grant Denyer on three shows something that is even discussed better yet even approved? What other network is doing this? We fell in love when you brought Big Brother and Gretel Killeen to our screens, introduced Australian Idol and stripped Masterchef across weeknights. I am still waiting to hear anything about Pilot Week too, do you even care? There are other talent hoping for a primetime shot, Tom Ballard? Celia Pacquola? Tommy Little? Anne Edmonds? I will keep in touch but won’t be checking in on you anytime soon.
I guess I’m just echoing what others are saying, too much Grant. I just find him a little too forced. There are so many other people in the ten stable that could have hosted Celebrity Name Game; Chrissy Swan, Meshel Laurie, Tommy Little, Peter Helliar, Gorgi Coghlan, Scott Tweedie
I haven’t watched anything on Channel Ten in 3 years, so i’m glad I have their channels deleted off all of my tv’s. It’s becoming the Grant Denyer Network.
Grant Denyer is hosting how many shows now?
I would’ve watched these shows if Grant Denyer wasn’t involved. Can not stand him.
Not a bad bunch of new shows but Ten are risking overexposure of Grant Denyer.
It’s a shame that there are no new original programs in this mix. Great that they did pilot week – but these are either all old or US brands.
I understand why TEN is relying on the same, popular presenters, but it would be nice to see some fresh faces in the mix.
Ten, do you realise that Grant Denyer won the Gold Logie as the result of a joke? Remember when Seven had him host every new show? None of them lasted. He is not a popular person. Julia & Chris (as much as I like them) are also in danger of doing too much.

I’m loving all these announcements but geez they need to mix up the talent fronting them.
Denyer is great but we don’t need 3 shows in a year that he is the host of.

There’s nothing wrong with any of these hosts but they are overexposed on the network and different or new presenting talent should be showcased more.
I wasn’t thrilled with yesterday’s story on Grant Denyer hosting DWTS but now that I’ve seen he’s hosting 3 different shows I’m really against it. 3 is too much Denyer who is quite a polarizing tv personality. I think his strength is in the game show stuff. I reckon having Amanda Keller as the main host of the DWTS would work with someone out the back a bit lighthearted like Tommy Little could work.
So just the same four hosts recycled on every show? How very Nine of them (at least they’re not former footy players). Then add The Living Room to the mix! Come on CBS, try harder.
