Was Today show banned from Emmys carpet?

Edwina Bartholomew? Check. Angela Bishop? Check. Richard Wilikins? Ummmm....

Sunrise‘s Edwina Bartholomew was on the red gold carpet as was Studio 10‘s Angela Bishop.

But this year Richard Wilkins was in Sydney co-hosting an Emmys-themed edition of Today Extra.

Nine was instead forced to use US entertainment reporter Sam Rubin.

Yesterday media was speculating that Nine had been “banned” from the carpet as payback for Seven’s snub from the Academy Awards earlier this year.

A Nine spokesperson told TV Tonight they did not have accreditation this year because Nine, unlike Seven, is not an NBC affiliate and the rights-holder was exerting their due control. Wilkins has also recently returned from overseas.

I guess Angela Bishop just has big influence in Hollywood then, and good for her.

  2. I was wondering too why Richard wasn’t there. I never known him to miss an awards ceremony. If that’s really the reason then it’s time for them both to grow up & stop this tit for tat & allow the other network to be there.
