Amazon Studios has ordered a one-hour action fantasy The Wheel of Time described as a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it.
Based upon Robert Jordan’s fantasy novels, which have sold more than 90 million copies, the series was adapted for TV by Rafe Judkins (Agents of SHIELD, Chuck) who also serves as showrunner.
The series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television.
It was announced at a 2018 Prime Presents event in London.

A one hour action-fantasy is just about a TV movie but couldn’t be described as even a limited series, this new show does sound a bit like The Magicians and Shannara Chronicles combined, so it would need to be exceptional to get a good audience for the obvious big budget it requires.
